Every year like clockwork, the world throws itself into a frenzy over the holiday craze. With deadlines approaching at every corner, shopping sprees to tackle and an endless array of parties to attend, it can feel more than a little overwhelming to plan your own.
If you’re stuck, worry not. Take these tips from your friends at Spork Bytes to take your party to the next level!
1. Cheat the clock
A lot of companies have been taking a different approach to their holiday parties by pushing the date back to January. Not only is this a refreshing way to kick off the new year with your teammates, but it cuts the costs significantly without that holiday surge. It’s also more likely that your staff will actually be in town, which is good for turnout.
2. Create the perfect playlist
Anyone with experience in party-throwing knows how vital a good playlist is for a great night. Whether you are going with live music, a DJ or just a really great Spotify playlist, it’s important that your song selections fit both the theme and the crowd. Think of it as the heart and soul of the party.
If you’re stuck, try the Holiday Party Playlist on Spotify or consider what genre best fits the mood of your company and/or employees, and then make sure there is a good variety within that selection. If you are going the live music or DJ route, it’s important that you see a live performance before making your final selection - the last thing you want is a last-minute flop.
3. Send ’em home
Another new thing companies are trying more and more is the idea of the complimentary ride (Uber, Lyft, cab, etc.). This eliminates the risk of drunk driving and allows your employees to feel more comfortable letting loose and really having fun.
This doesn’t have to be expensive at all, especially with the convenience of pooling or shared rides, and it makes your employees feel appreciated and taken care of.
4. Pick a theme, any theme!
Tired of the same old December holiday party vibe? No problem - switch up the theme! Not only will this give your party a fresh and exciting edge, but moving the date to January will increase the availability of venues and rates are bound to be much lower outside of the frantic holiday season.
Trying a fun new theme like a Hawaiian shirt party, the Great Gatsby or a classy black-tie affair can make things feel new again. An excuse to either dress up or dress silly is something that people are always excited about! You can even get your whole team involved and have everyone submit ideas for a theme so the party is truly your own.
5. Location, location, location
While the music is the heart and soul of your event, location plays a key role in a successful party. It’s just as important to find an environment that will fit the vibe as well as the tunes do.
We have quite a few favorites we’re happy to recommend, but the Greatroom has everyone buzzing lately. With high ceilings, natural light, and a beautiful outdoor space, it can accommodate any type of party you’re trying to throw.
Keep all of these tips in mind to ease the stress of party-planning and maximize your capabilities. With all the details taken care of, it’s easier to focus on what matters most: the food!
